Take a personalised,"hands on" tour into garden history

A garden shows the culture of a society and place. No Tasmanian garden does it better than Inverawe Native Gardens, just 15 minutes south of Hobart, Tasmania's capital.

Imagine what it was like to step ashore 200 years ago, at the edge of the world. The French were here, as were the early botanists. It was here that they made some of the discoveries that made their reputations.

Explore Inverawe with one of its creators. You will listen, feel, and sniff your way around this astonishing garden bordering historic North West Bay. See some of the 88 bird species of Inverawe. Experience a Tasmanian garden that works with the environment and not against it.

Meet many of the plants named by those early botanists and take away a CD with high resolution colour images of the plants of Inverawe. You will have the opportunity to pot up a plant named by one of the early botanists. Take the plant away or add it to the Inverawe collection.

Finish with tea on the terrace.

Bookings are essential.

Two hours, guided tour, tea and light refreshments included. $60 adults, $30 children.
